A homeowner in Ashuelot, New Hampshire needed help improving an older basement with water concerns and structural support issues. The basement had a mix of stone foundation walls, wood framing, existing support posts, and areas where moisture had been entering along the foundation.
During the inspection, the Northern Basement Systems team evaluated the basement walls, floor, support posts, framing, and drainage needs. The goal was to create a system that could manage basement water while also improving support beneath the floor system above. To address the water issues, the crew installed a basement waterproofing system designed to collect water and direct it to a sump pump system. The CleanSpace wall system was installed along the foundation wall to help direct wall moisture down into the drainage system and create a cleaner finished appearance. The team also installed exterior discharge protection, including IceGuard and a LawnScape outlet, to help move water away from the home. IceGuard provides an emergency outlet if the discharge line freezes or becomes blocked, while the LawnScape outlet allows water to exit away from the foundation. In addition to the waterproofing work, SmartJack support posts were installed to help stabilize the floor system. These engineered steel posts provide strong, adjustable support beneath beams and joists, making them a reliable solution for older basements with aging or insufficient supports.
