The homeowner in Coventry, Vermont, had been noticing that parts of their home just didn’t feel quite right. The floors had begun to lose their firmness, and a constant dampness seemed to linger no matter the season. Like many crawl spaces in the area, the space beneath the home had been left exposed to the ground, allowing moisture to accumulate over time while the original supports gradually lost their effectiveness.
When our team inspected the crawl space, it was clear that both structural and moisture issues were working together to create the problem. The existing supports were no longer providing adequate stability, and water intrusion was contributing to the damp conditions below. Without a system in place to manage that water, the crawl space environment was continuing to decline.
To address the structural concerns, we installed a SmartJack® support system, carefully stabilizing and supporting the floor system above. We then encapsulated the crawl space with a CleanSpace® system, isolating the area from ground moisture and creating a controlled environment. To ensure that any water entering the space had a proper path out, we also installed a SmartDrain™ system to effectively manage and direct water away.
By the time the project was complete, the transformation was clear. The crawl space was no longer damp or unstable, and the floors above felt solid again. What was once an unreliable, moisture-prone area is now a clean, controlled space that supports the home the way it should.
