A homeowner in Gilsum, New Hampshire, reached out after noticing dark staining and dampness along the base of their stone foundation. Water had been slowly seeping through the wall and onto the basement floor, especially during periods of heavy rain and seasonal thaw. Over time, the moisture left behind visible mineral staining and created an environment that felt consistently damp.
During the inspection, it was clear that this wasn’t a one-time issue but an ongoing water intrusion caused by pressure building up outside the foundation. The original stone walls, while solid, were never designed to keep water out, allowing moisture to pass through joints and low points where the wall meets the floor.
To address the problem, a full perimeter waterproofing system was installed to capture water at the point of entry and direct it safely away from the basement. A sump pump system was added to handle discharge, along with a clean, durable wall system to help manage moisture coming through the foundation. The combination works together to relieve pressure and control water before it reaches the basement floor.
Once completed, the space was noticeably drier and more consistent, eliminating the ongoing seepage that had been affecting the basement. The homeowner now has a system that proactively manages changing conditions year-round, instead of responding to water issues after they arise.
