Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems evaluated the retaining wall and determined that the GeoLock® Wall Anchor System could provide the structural support needed to stabilize it. GeoLock uses heavy-duty steel earth anchors installed in stable soil away from the retaining wall. Galvanized steel rods connect the earth anchors to steel wall plates positioned against the wall. Tightening the system transfers pressure from the retaining wall to the anchors in stable soil. Unlike a complete retaining wall replacement, the GeoLock system allows the existing wall to be stabilized while minimizing disruption to the surrounding property. With the wall anchors installed, the retaining wall leading from this Albany home's walkout basement now has a permanent stabilization system designed to help prevent further inward movement.
