Joe and Rosie S. attended the HomeLife Show in Hanover. Thinking about the damp crawl space beneath their Lebanon home, the NH homeowners decided to talk with a representative from Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems after hearing an expert talk about the dangers of a damp, unsecured crawl space because and how it can affect the rest of the home. The representative discussed cost-effective options to seal their crawl space and create a healthier environment. Joe and Rosie thought that the company would be a good fit for the job and set up an appointment with specialist Michael Doherty.
Expert Michael Doherty came out for the inspection and provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the suggested repairs. The couple was lucky – as of yet, they had no major structural or water damage problems. Michael suggested that foreman Neil Sayers install a CleanSpace liner to encapsulate the space to keep out moisture and water. CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation provides a barrier between the crawl space floor and the earth.
Joe and Rosie are thrilled that their crawl space is now clean and dry and they also have extra storage space and have added value to their home in the process.
Ursula B. rented out her Hanover, NH home. When Ursula received complaints about cracks in the floor of the garage attached to the home, she owed it to the renters to call a professional and have the garage inspected. After doing some research, she decided that Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems was the right contractor for the job. Owner Matt Clark came out to conduct the inspection. He discovered that the garage had been built on loose soil and was quickly sinking into the ground, causing major cracks to the foundation. Matt assured Ursula that lifting and supporting the foundation right away would restore the garage to its normal place and ensure that the rest of the home would not be compromised.
After Ursula agreed to the plan that Matt proposed, Matt's team arrived to get started. They excavated the property and coated the foundation with additional concrete to seal and strengthen it. Next, they installed eight push piers. These long steel rods attach to the foundation and extend deep into the ground, anchoring in a more stable soil stratum. The foundation piers help to transfer the weight of the structure and prevent further settling and cracks.
Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems restored Ursula’s garage and her peace of mind. Her tenants can continue to live there safely and she can offer them a home she’s proud to own!

George O. was tired of the musty smell from his crawl space invading his home. Desperate for a solution, George called Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems based on a recommendation from a colleague. Crawl space expert Michael Doherty came out to inspect the Hanover, NH home and look for the source of the odor!
Michael explained that removing moisture and keeping the crawl space dry was the only way to get rid of the smell – and keep it away! Foreman Matt Ostroud and his team encapsulated the crawl space, which solved several problems, smell included! After seeing the crawl space, the waterproofers suspected that plumbing leaks were partially to blame for the moisture and odor. They installed a SmartDrain crawl space drain and plumbing leak system to ensure the removal of any water that enters the crawl space. A SaniDry XP would help keep the air dry, preventing odor. Finally, the whole interior would be kept clean and dry with a CleanSpace liner and drainage matting.
George’s original concern was just with the smell of his crawl space. But having the space encapsulated provided the homeowner with many more benefits. His home is now more energy efficient, saving him a substantial amount on utility bills. And the space is clean enough to use for storing valuables!
Alexei woke up one morning to find that her finished basement had undergone some water damage. This ruined the carpet and left other items damp. She didn’t want to replace the carpet, because the same damages could happen again. She figured there must be something that could better protect her basement floor. After doing some research online, she found the solution. She quickly reached out to Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems for help.
Alexei checked out the Northern Basement Systems’ website and found the ThermalDry floor tiles. These tiles are designed specifically for basements. They are warm, comfortable and stylish. Each tile is designed to sit on raised, plastic pegs, forming a small airspace underneath. In this airspace, water vapor circulates and dries out. This causes the tile to be eight to ten degrees warmer than the concrete below it. The tile is made from inorganic material; this will ensure that plumbing leaks or floods won’t damage it. The experts from Northern Basement Systems got right to work knowing that this was the right fit for Alexei’s finished basement.
Now Alexei can rest easily knowing that her finished basement won’t be susceptible to a little water damage. With the help of ThermalDry Tiles, Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems can turn any moldy, rotten, foul-smelling basement floor into a warm, beautiful one.
Jeff was facing a big problem; the floors in his old home were sagging. Most often, this problem occurs due to deteriorating support beams from the basement. In Jeff’s case, the lack of support was coming from his crawlspace. To combat this problem, Jeff reached out to Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems and found a solution.
Matt Clark and his team of experts installed thirteen SmartJacks in Jeff’s crawlspace. The SmartJack system permanently lifts and stabilizes the existing beams and floor joists in a crawl space. Engineered fill addresses the problem of weak foundation soil by transferring the weight of the home to competent strata. Steel columns are secured to the beams and finally heavy-duty rods allow for adjustment and a custom fit to Jeff’s crawlspace.
Jeff won’t have to worry about his sagging floors anymore. Fortunately, he was proactive about the situation before it became worse. If you’ve got a similar situation, give Matt Clark a call for a free estimate!
Jesse was experiencing water in his basement. Even though it was a small leak, it was persistent during rain fall and the spring season. He figured there must be a way to take care of it. After doing some research online, he reached out to Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems.
Matt Clark and his team of experts have seen this problem again and again in their line of work. They installed a SuperSump pump system, their DryTrak system, a LawnScape outlet and a discharge line. The DryTrak system runs along the base of the walls, collecting the water from the exterior soil and pushing it to the pump. From the pump, the water is channeled through the discharge line and released through the outlet, at a safe distance from the house. With all these installations in place, Jesse’s basement will be much drier during storms and the spring season.
Now Jesse doesn’t have to worry about water in his basement anymore. Basement water may seem like a difficult problem, but Matt Clark is an expert in the basement field and can find a solution. Give him a call if you have a concern about your basement.

The homeowners in Lyme, New Hampshire was fed up with a water issue in the basement. They purchased the home three years ago and for three years water had seeped into the basement. The water would start to come into the basement around spring time and wouldn't even start to dry out until August. This made it a huge hassle for them. They couldn't even use the big basement space for storage with out having things on raised platforms.
Tired of not being able to use their space they contacted Matt Clark's Northern Basement [email protected] Matt sent out of his System Design Specialist for the customers FREE ESTIMATE. After doing the inspection the conclusion was made the best way to keep the customers basement permanently dry was to install a few different products.
First Northern Basement Systems installed a CleanSpace Wall System. The CleanSpace Wall System uses a thick (20mil) white poly sheet material to completely cover basement foundation walls. CleanSpace is installed by fastening the material to the rim joist atop the foundation wall, and by installing press-fit plastic fasteners into the masonry. As part of your waterproofing system, it creates an effective moisture and vapor barrier. The wall covering forces all wall seepage and moisture to flow into your perimeter drain system. The white poly surface eliminates the need to paint basement walls, providing a bright, stain-resistant finish that never needs repainting or maintenance. Next, WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard effectively captures wall and floor seepage before it reaches your basement floor. When WaterGuard is installed together with our sump pump system, your basement has complete protection. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to sump pump. Finally a SuperSump Plus was installed to pump out any water in the WaterGuard. The SuperSump has a premium plastic sump liner is the attractive alternative to an open sump pit. Perforations in the liner capture ground water, and a larger opening connects to the interior drainage system. The liner's airtight lid keeps out pests and debris, while also eliminating the safety hazard of an open sump pit. It has a WaterWatch Alarm in case of a power outage, tripped circuit breaker or other malfunction shuts down your sump pump, this alarm will sound when water level rises above the sump pump intake. It has a Zoeller cast-iron, 1/3 HP pump where as inexpensive sump pumps with plastic housings are prone to overheating and burnout. All Basement Systems sump pumps are equipped with powerful, top-quality Zoeller sump pumps. The unit installed in our SuperSump is one of the best, capable of pumping up to 2,280 gallons per hour. The water from the Super Sump will pump out of the house to a discharge line away from the home. The homeowners now have a permanent big dry space the can enjoy. No more putting their storage on risers and no more water in their basement.
