Job Stories From Cheshire County, NH
Water Leakage Solved and Storage Space Created in Keene, NH Crawl Space
Lou and Cathy G. of Keene, NH thought they had taken the proper precautions to protect their crawl space. They already had a sump pump installed, but the space never seemed to be totally dry. A friend of theirs had used Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems in the past to waterproof their basement. Lou and Cathy decided to give them a call and set up a free inspection and no-obligation estimate.
Waterproofing specialist Michael Doherty performed the inspection and found that although the sump pump was doing its job, moisture permeating the soil was causing the damp environment. He recommended encapsulating the area to remove all the moisture. Lou and Cathy agreed to make their space dry and a bit more attractive in the process. Matt Clarks team installed CleanSpace drainage matting to collect the water from the soil, along with a CleanSpace liner to help keep the space dry. The couple also opted to include SilverGlo reflective wall insulation in the repair. Not only did the crawl space liner and insulation help create a healthier space, but these products also helped to brighten the floors and walls!
Lou and Cathy are very happy with the work of Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems and will no longer have to worry about mold or rot damaging their crawl space. Their home also has added value because the crawl space isn’t just wasted space - it is now a place where they can safely store their belongings!
Keene, NH Homeowner is Thankful for Friend’s Recommendation for a Basement Waterproofer
Pete S. of Keene, NH told a friend about the water in his basement and the friend referred him to Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems. Pete set up an initial appointment and was pleased when owner Matt Clark came out to conduct the inspection! Matt knew exactly what the basement needed.
Matt decided that having foreman Refik Bahonjic and his crew install a WaterGuard XL drainage system and TrenchDrain channel drain would work the best to keep the water out of Pete’s basement. They also installed a TripleSafe sump pump and LawnScape drainage outlet to pump water out of the basement and away from the home. Finally, the experts used FlexiSpan to repair the crack in the wall where the water was coming into the basement.
Pete was happy that he spoke to his friend about his wet basement problem and that his friend recommended the perfect company for the job! The homeowner feels confident that his basement will stay dry and has had no issues with water coming into his basement.
Foundation Piers Help Stabilize Home Addition in Keene, NH
When John H. had an addition built on his home, he never expected that the addition might cause more problems than it solved! The addition on John’s Keene, NH home was completed in the 80s and over twenty years of foundation settlement lead to significant cracks in the drywall in the crawl space beneath the settlement, doors that wouldn’t open, and a severely tilted floor. John decided to have someone give him an estimate on repairs before it was too late. He found Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems online and filled out the request form on the company’s website. Shortly after, the company got back to him to setup an appointment, and specialist Michael Doherty came to inspect the home.
Michael suggested installing push piers and helical piers to transfer the weight of the structure to more stable soil. The piers help stop further foundation settlement, repair the cracks, and give John working doors and a level floor.
John plans on contacting Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems every year to have his foundation inspected and is confident that the experts will be able to him if any problems should arise.
Spring Melting Causing a Homeowners Basement to Flood Time and Time Again in Claremont
Shawn and Kayla Sullivan of Claremont, NH were plagued with a common problem many homeowners face: a leaky basement due to rain and snowmelt in the spring. The problem didn’t affect them every time it rained but was a serious issue for them nonetheless.
Their problem was like so many others that we face and after their free inspection we were able to provide a solution that fit their needs.
To deal with the water coming into the basement DryTrak was installed. DryTrak is similar to WaterGuard in that it funnels all water to a pump; however DryTrak is used for monolithic foundations and sits on top of the basement floor. For a pump Shawn and Kayla decided to go with the TripleSafe pump containing two pumps in the event that one pump fails or that one pump can’t keep up with the amount of water, and a battery backup in case of a power outage. Along with the waterproofing we installed a ThermalDry wall system that stops water vapor, drains wall leaks, and reflects up to 97% of the indoor heat back into the basement. ThermalDry wall systems are also perfect for homeowners that are considering finishing their basement at a later time.
In the end Shawn and Kayla were very satisfied with the work and now have the peace of mind that their home won’t have water problems every spring.
