Responsible Basement Waterproofing in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
A homeowner in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont, was dealing with water entering the basement and spreading across the concrete floor. The basement housed mechanical equipment, storage areas, and utility access points, making it important to keep the space dry and protected. Visible damp areas on the floor and staining along the block foundation showed that water had been a recurring issue. Northern Basement Systems inspected the basement and found that water needed to be managed at the floor level before it could spread through the space. Because the basement had an oil tank, mechanical equipment, and narrow work areas, the system needed to be carefully placed to collect water efficiently without interfering with the home’s existing utilities. The team also evaluated the discharge route to make sure water could be moved away from the home once collected.
Solution
The crew installed a complete basement waterproofing system to collect, pump, and discharge water away from the foundation. TrenchDrain was installed in targeted floor areas to capture water as it entered or collected. The water was directed to a new UltraSump 4 battery backup sump pump system, giving the homeowner reliable pumping protection and added peace of mind during power outages.
Outside the home, the discharge system was completed with IceGuard and a LawnScape outlet. IceGuard helps protect the system during freezing conditions by allowing water to escape if the discharge line becomes blocked by ice. The LawnScape outlet provides a clean discharge point that moves water away from the foundation while keeping the yard neat.
Products Installed
- TrenchDrain: Installed in key floor areas to collect surface water and direct it toward the sump system before it can spread across the basement floor.
- UltraSump 4 Battery Backup Sump Pump System: Provides reliable pumping protection with battery backup support, helping keep the basement protected even during power outages.
- IceGuard: Installed on the exterior discharge line to help prevent water from backing up into the basement if the line freezes or becomes blocked.
- LawnScape Outlet: Provides a clean, low-profile exterior discharge point that directs water safely away from the foundation.
The Bridgewater Corners basement now has a waterproofing system designed to manage water from the inside out. Water entering the basement can now be collected through the drainage system, directed to the sump pump, and discharged away from the home. This gives the homeowner a cleaner, more reliable way to protect the basement and the important equipment inside.
