Wet Basement in Belmont, Vermont | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
A homeowner in Belmont, Vermont, was dealing with water intrusion in the basement. The space included important mechanical equipment, plumbing, and storage tanks, so the homeowner needed a dependable waterproofing system that could collect water, manage it properly, and help keep the basement more usable. During the inspection, our team found signs of water intrusion along the basement walls and floor. Water could spread through the mechanical area, making it important to install a system that collects water at the perimeter and captures surface water in key areas. The basement also needed a wall system that would guide moisture into the drainage system while improving the space's appearance.
Solution
Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems installed a full interior waterproofing system designed to manage water intrusion throughout the basement. The system included CleanSpace Wall System, interior basement drainage, TrenchDrain, a sump pump system, and an exterior discharge line to move collected water away from the home.
- CleanSpace Wall System
The CleanSpace Wall System was installed along the basement walls to help create a cleaner, brighter surface while working with the waterproofing system. When water enters through the foundation wall, CleanSpace helps direct it down into the drainage system rather than allowing it to spread across the basement floor or continue staining the wall surface. - Interior Basement Drainage System
The interior drainage system was installed along the basement perimeter to collect water at the base of the foundation wall. Once water enters the drainage system, it is directed to the sump pump system so it can be removed from the basement before reaching the main floor. - TrenchDrain
TrenchDrain was installed in areas where surface water needed to be captured before it traveled across the basement floor. This is especially helpful in utility areas, near openings, or in spots where water may not naturally reach the perimeter drainage quickly enough. The drain collects surface water and connects it to the waterproofing system. - Sump Pump System
The sump pump system was installed to remove water that collects in the basement. Water from the interior drainage and TrenchDrain is directed to the sump system, where it can be pumped out of the home and away from the foundation. - Exterior Discharge Line
The exterior discharge line carries water from the sump pump system to the outside of the home. This completes the waterproofing system by moving collected water away from the basement and foundation.
The completed waterproofing system gave the homeowner a cleaner and more reliable basement. Water entering through the walls or floor can now be collected, directed to the sump pump system, and discharged away from the home. The CleanSpace Wall System also improved the basement's appearance, making the mechanical area look brighter and better organized.
This Belmont basement waterproofing project shows why a complete system is often the best approach for managing water intrusion. By combining CleanSpace Wall System, interior drainage, TrenchDrain, a sump pump system, and an exterior discharge line, Northern Basement Systems helped create a basement that is cleaner, more usable, and better prepared to handle water.
