Basement Insulation in Elkins, NH | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
The foundation walls in this Elkins, New Hampshire basement needed insulation, and the homeowner wanted to prepare the space for future finishing. Traditional wood framing and fiberglass insulation can be less than ideal for a below-grade environment. The homeowner needed a basement-specific solution that could provide effective insulation while also creating the framework for the future finished walls. Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems evaluated the basement and recommended the Basement-to-Beautiful® Wall System. The system combines rigid-foam basement insulation with integrated steel framing, allowing insulation and wall preparation to be completed using a single panel system.
Solution
Our crew installed Basement-to-Beautiful panels directly along the basement foundation walls. Each 2½-inch-thick panel incorporates SilverGlo® graphite-infused rigid foam insulation and provides a continuous R-13 thermal barrier. Integrated steel studs provide attachment points for the future finished wall surface. Because the framing does not extend completely through the insulation to the foundation wall, approximately two inches of continuous insulation remain behind the studs to help reduce thermal bridging. Built-in horizontal and vertical wiring channels also provide pathways for electrical wiring when the basement is finished.

• Basement-to-Beautiful® Wall System — A basement wall pre-finishing system combining continuous R-13 SilverGlo graphite-infused rigid foam insulation with integrated steel framing. The 2½-inch panels include built-in wiring channels and provide attachment points for future wall finishes, eliminating the need for conventional wood framing and fiberglass insulation.
The previously exposed basement foundation walls now have a continuous layer of insulation designed specifically for the below-grade environment. In addition to improving the thermal barrier between the basement and foundation walls, Basement-to-Beautiful provides integrated framing that prepares the space for future wall finishing. Installing Basement-to-Beautiful gave this Elkins, New Hampshire, homeowner more than basement wall insulation. The system combines insulation, framing and preparation for future finishing into one compact wall system, helping create a more comfortable basement that's ready for the next stage of the project.
