When a home in Brattleboro, Vermont, needed a solution for old, insufficient floor supports in the basement, the homeowner contacted Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems.

A homeowner in Montgomery, Vermont reached out to Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems regarding their crawl space.  They were interested in weatherizing, but also concerned with the possibilities of what to do if they encapsulated the crawl space and a water pipe broke.  This was an easy task for the pros at Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems.  

First Matt's team would install a CleanSpace Encapsulation System.  On the floor there will be drainage matting laid down with two SmartDrains and then completely covered in CleanSpace.  The SmartDrains, paired with drainage matting will provide a system to protect the crawlspace incase of a pipe break, or leak.  If there ever was a water issue it would channel through the drainage matting and drain to the SmartDrains, which are armed with water alarms.  After the CrawlSpace Encapsulation System is installed Closed-cell Polyurethane Spray Foam insulation is applied to the entire rim-joist and partly down the walls.  This will put the finishing touches to the crawl space weatherization, providing an excellent R-value of 6-7 per inch.

At the time the basement had a dirt floor and a large portion of the area was crawlspace with minimal clearance. The installation specialists at Northern Basement Systems installed WaterGuard on the perimeter of the basement for drainage, and 10-foot SmartJacks were installed for added support beneath the home. Next, the specialist installed Delta mat and PEX radiant heating tubing. Lastly, the crew poured concrete over the Delta and PEX give a clean and finished look to the space. This new homeowner was concerned about the water leaking into the basement during rainfall and spring months. Our team installed a full perimiter WaterGuard Drainage System to collect water. They also installed two SuperSump Plus Premier Pump System, to take care of water entering trying to enter from all four walls. The homeowners were also concerned about the moisture and humidity so we put in an energy efficient SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, to lower moisture and reduce the risk for mold growth. 

With these systems in place, the new homeowners will have a home that will remain dry, year round!
