Basement Waterproofing in Ripton, Vermont | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
A homeowner in Ripton, Vermont, was dealing with water entering the basement, creating ongoing concerns along the perimeter of the space. The area near the basement stairs showed clear signs of moisture intrusion, and sections of the basement walls and floor indicated that water had been seeping in for some time. Like many older basements, this one had conditions that can make homeowners worry every time heavy rain or snowmelt rolls through. Water issues in a basement are more than just an inconvenience. When moisture starts entering through the wall-floor joint or around entry points, it can create a damp, uncomfortable space that is harder to use and harder to trust. This homeowner needed a dependable solution to manage water and protect the basement.
Inspection: Our team found that the home would benefit from a comprehensive interior waterproofing system rather than a temporary fix. The basement showed evidence of water intrusion along the perimeter, and the stair area was another area where proper water management would be important. The existing conditions made it clear that the homeowner needed a system that could collect water before it reached the basement floor and safely direct it to a sump pump. We also identified that the basement walls would benefit from a vapor barrier system to create a cleaner, brighter appearance while guiding wall moisture down into the drainage system. Altogether, the basement needed a coordinated waterproofing approach that would address the problem from multiple angles.
Solution
To help protect this Ripton basement, Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems installed an interior waterproofing system designed to collect and manage water entering the space. Our team installed WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement to capture water at the wall-floor joint and direct it to the sump pump system before it can spread across the floor.
A TrenchDrain was installed near the basement stair area to help capture surface water in that entry point and direct it into the waterproofing system. We also installed a sump pump system to provide a reliable discharge point for the collected water. To finish the system, CleanSpace was installed along the basement walls to create a cleaner look and channel wall moisture into the drainage system. With these systems working together, the homeowner now has a much more dependable way to manage basement water and protect the space moving forward.
Products Installed
WaterGuard
An interior basement drainage system is installed along the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard is designed to collect water entering at the wall-floor joint and direct it to the sump pump system before it reaches the basement floor.
TrenchDrain
Installed near the basement stairs to capture surface water entering through that area. TrenchDrain helps prevent water from spreading across the floor by sending it directly into the waterproofing system.
Sump Pump System
A TripleSafe sump pump system was installed to collect water from the drainage system and pump it safely away from the home. This is a key part of keeping the basement dry and protected.
CleanSpace Wall System
A durable wall vapor barrier is installed along the basement walls. CleanSpace helps create a brighter, cleaner appearance while helping direct wall moisture down into the drainage system.
IceGuard
Installed on the discharge line outside the home to help allow water to escape even if the exterior line becomes blocked by ice or snow during winter conditions.
LawnScape Outlet
A discharge line outlet is designed to carry water away from the home and release it at a designated point in the yard.
After the waterproofing work was completed, this Ripton basement was left in much better shape to handle water intrusion. The new drainage system, stair drain, sump pump system, and wall protection all work together to help keep water under control and reduce the chance of it becoming a bigger problem inside the home.
Just as importantly, the basement now looks cleaner and more organized. Instead of a damp, questionable space that left the homeowner concerned, the basement is now set up with a system designed to help manage water and provide long-term peace of mind. Basement water problems in Ripton, Vermont, can quickly become frustrating for homeowners, especially in older homes where water can enter through multiple paths. In this project, Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems installed a full interior waterproofing system to help collect, control, and remove water from the basement. By combining WaterGuard, TrenchDrain, a sump pump system, and the CleanSpace Wall System, we were able to give this homeowner a more dependable and better-protected basement. If your basement is taking on water or showing signs of moisture intrusion, our team can provide a free estimate and help you find the right solution.
