Basement Waterproofing in East Ryegate, Vermont | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
This older home in East Ryegate, Vermont, had a short basement that needed protection from water and excess moisture. The limited ceiling height and older foundation created a challenging environment that required a waterproofing solution designed around the basement's existing construction. The homeowner wanted to improve the condition of the basement, protect the floor and lower walls, and address the exposed rim-joist area where outside air could enter the home. During the inspection, Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems team evaluated the basement floor, foundation walls, rim joists, and areas vulnerable to water intrusion and moisture. Because this was a shorter, older basement, the system needed to provide reliable protection without unnecessarily reducing the usable space. The inspection led to a customized plan combining basement waterproofing, a powerful sump pump system, a durable moisture barrier, and closed-cell spray-foam insulation.
Solution
The crew installed a complete basement waterproofing system designed to collect water and direct it to a TripleSafe Sump Pump System. CleanSpace liner was installed across the basement floor and extended halfway up the foundation walls. This created a durable barrier over the older basement surfaces while helping direct moisture toward the waterproofing system. Closed-cell spray foam was then applied along the rim joists and upper portion of the foundation walls. The spray foam extended downward to meet the top of the CleanSpace liner, creating continuous coverage from the rim-joist area to the basement floor.
Products Installed
• TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe combines three levels of pumping protection in one sump liner. Its primary and secondary pumps provide dependable everyday and high-volume pumping, while the battery-backup pump can continue removing water during a power outage.
• CleanSpace Basement Liner
CleanSpace was installed across the basement floor and halfway up the foundation walls. The durable liner provides a clean, bright surface and helps isolate the basement from moisture associated with the older floor and walls.
• Closed-Cell Spray-Foam Insulation
Closed-cell spray foam was installed in the rim joists and along the upper portion of the basement walls. The foam helps reduce outside-air infiltration and improves insulation in one of the home’s most vulnerable areas.
• Basement Waterproofing System
The waterproofing system was installed to capture water entering the basement and direct it to the TripleSafe for removal from the home.
The completed system transformed the short, older basement into a cleaner and better-protected area. CleanSpace now covers the floor and lower walls, while closed-cell spray foam protects the rim joists and upper wall sections. By bringing the two materials together at the midpoint of the foundation walls, the crew created continuous coverage throughout the basement. The TripleSafe provides the homeowner with dependable pumping protection and added peace of mind during heavy rain and power outages. This East Ryegate, Vermont, basement required a solution designed specifically for its age, height, and construction. Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems combined waterproofing, CleanSpace, TripleSafe, and closed-cell spray foam to provide lasting protection from the basement floor to the rim joists.
