Basement Waterproofing in South Pomfret, VT | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
The basement of this South Pomfret, Vermont home already had a sump pump, but water was still entering the space. Without an effective drainage system to collect incoming water and direct it toward the sump, the existing setup couldn't adequately handle the amount of water entering the basement. The homeowner needed more than another standalone sump pump. They needed a coordinated waterproofing system capable of managing water and excess humidity.
Solution
Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems evaluated the existing setup and determined that the basement needed improved water management, increased sump pump protection, and humidity control. The exterior discharge also needed to reliably move pumped water away from the home's foundation, including during Vermont's freezing winter conditions. Our crew installed the CleanSpace® Wall System to manage water entering through the foundation walls and direct it toward the basement's water-management system. A TripleSafe® Sump Pump System replaced the inadequate sump setup, providing multiple levels of pumping protection for collected water. A SaniDry™ dehumidifier was also installed to remove excess moisture from the basement air automatically. Outside, IceGuard® was added to the sump discharge system to provide an emergency outlet if the buried discharge line freezes or becomes blocked. The buried line terminates at a LawnScape™ outlet positioned away from the home's foundation.
Products Installed
• TripleSafe® Sump Pump System — Provides three levels of sump pump protection in one system, including primary pumping capacity, additional pumping protection during high-water conditions and battery-backup protection during power outages.
• CleanSpace® Wall System — A durable wall system that intercepts water entering through foundation walls and directs it toward the basement's water-management system while providing a clean, bright appearance.
• SaniDry™ Dehumidifier — A high-performance basement dehumidification system designed to automatically remove excess moisture from the air and maintain appropriate humidity levels.
• IceGuard® — Installed on the exterior sump discharge line to provide an emergency outlet for pumped water if the buried discharge line freezes or becomes blocked.
• LawnScape™ Outlet — Provides a discreet termination point for the buried discharge line and releases pumped water away from the home's foundation.
The homeowner is no longer relying on an inadequate standalone sump pump as the basement's only defense against incoming water. The new system provides improved water management, significantly greater pumping protection, automatic humidity control, and a dependable discharge route away from the home. This South Pomfret, Vermont, project demonstrates why simply having a sump pump doesn't necessarily mean a basement is properly protected from water. By addressing how water is managed, pumped, and discharged, Northern Basement Systems provided the homeowner with a much more comprehensive basement waterproofing solution.
