Challenge
Water and excess moisture were creating problems in the basement of this Adamant, Vermont home. The homeowner needed a comprehensive solution capable of collecting incoming water, reliably pumping it out of the basement, and controlling humidity. The system also needed to discharge collected water away from the foundation while accounting for Vermont's freezing winter conditions. Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems evaluated the basement and determined that an interior perimeter drainage system combined with dependable sump pump protection would provide an effective solution for incoming water. Humidity control and a properly designed exterior discharge system were also incorporated to provide more complete protection for the basement.
Solution
Our crew installed WaterGuard® around the basement perimeter to capture incoming water and direct it to the sump. A TripleSafe® Sump Pump System was installed to collect and remove water from the basement. A SaniDry™ dehumidifier was added to automatically control excess moisture in the basement air. Outside, IceGuard® was installed on the sump discharge line to provide an emergency outlet if the buried line freezes or becomes blocked. The buried discharge line continues away from the foundation and terminates at a LawnScape™ outlet.
Products Installed
• WaterGuard® — An interior perimeter drainage system installed beneath the edge of the basement floor and on top of the foundation footing. WaterGuard captures incoming water and directs it toward the sump pump system.
• TripleSafe® Sump Pump System — Provides three levels of sump pump protection, including primary pumping capacity, additional pumping protection during high-water conditions, and battery-backup protection during power outages.
• SaniDry™ Dehumidifier — A high-performance basement dehumidification system designed to automatically remove excess moisture from the air and maintain appropriate humidity levels.
• IceGuard® — Installed on the exterior sump discharge line to provide an emergency outlet for pumped water if the buried discharge line freezes or becomes blocked.
• LawnScape™ Outlet — Provides a discreet termination point for the buried discharge line and releases pumped water away from the home's foundation.
Incoming basement water now has a dedicated path through WaterGuard to the TripleSafe sump system for removal. SaniDry helps control moisture remaining in the basement air, while IceGuard and LawnScape complete the system by providing a dependable exterior discharge route. By combining WaterGuard, TripleSafe, SaniDry, IceGuard, and LawnScape, Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems provided this Adamant homeowner with a comprehensive basement waterproofing system designed to manage water and humidity while providing long-term protection for the basement.
