Challenge
A homeowner in South Burlington, Vermont, was dealing with basement water and moisture and wanted a comprehensive solution instead of addressing symptoms as they appeared. Water entering around the foundation and excess humidity made it difficult to keep the basement consistently dry. Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems inspected the basement walls, floor perimeter, water-entry areas, humidity conditions, sump location, and exterior discharge route. Our team determined that the best solution would combine perimeter drainage, wall encapsulation, sump protection, humidity control, and a protected exterior discharge system.
Solution
WaterGuard perimeter drainage was installed along the basement foundation to collect groundwater before it could spread across the basement floor. The CleanSpace Wall System was installed over the foundation walls and integrated with the WaterGuard system below. Any moisture entering through the walls is directed downward behind CleanSpace and into WaterGuard rather than reaching the basement floor. Collected water flows through WaterGuard to a TripleSafe sump pump system, which pumps it safely out of the basement. Installed a SaniDry dehumidifier to automatically control excess moisture in the basement air. Outside the home, IceGuard was added to the sump discharge system to provide an emergency path for water if the buried discharge line ever freezes or becomes blocked.

The basement now has an integrated system designed to manage moisture from multiple sources. The system captures groundwater and wall moisture and directs it to the TripleSafe sump system, while the SaniDry manages excess humidity in the air.
