1-802-397-9323Homes in Derby Line, VT (05830) often face a unique combination of basement challenges due to soil conditions, seasonal moisture, and older construction methods common throughout the Northeast Kingdom. In many cases, water intrusion isn’t caused by a single issue, but rather a combination of factors working together.
In this Derby Line home, water was entering along the foundation walls, moisture was rising from below the basement floor, and portions of the structure required additional support. Over time, these conditions created a damp, unreliable space that was difficult to use and raised concerns about long-term performance.
To properly address the problem, a full waterproofing and structural system was installed.
A WaterGuard® interior drainage system was installed around the perimeter of the basement to capture water at the point of entry. In areas where water was more concentrated, including around mechanical equipment, a trench drain system was installed to intercept and redirect surface water before it could spread across the floor.
A TripleSafe® sump pump system was installed to collect and discharge water safely away from the home. The system was paired with an IceGuard® discharge line and LawnScape™ outlet to ensure reliable performance, even during freezing conditions common in Derby Line winters.
To address moisture coming from below, drainage matting was installed across the basement floor. A new concrete slab was then poured over the system, creating a clean, solid, and functional surface. Along the foundation walls, a CleanSpace® wall system was installed to help direct any wall seepage into the drainage system. To stabilize the structure, SmartJack® supports were installed to provide additional strength and support where needed.
To complete the system, a Sedona SaniDry™ dehumidifier was installed to control humidity and improve overall air quality throughout the basement.
The result is a fully integrated system designed to manage water, moisture, and structural concerns together — creating a dry, stable, and usable basement for the homeowner.
