Crawl Space Repair in Washington, New Hampshire | Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems
Challenge
A homeowner in Washington, New Hampshire, was experiencing uneven, sagging floors along with ongoing moisture issues originating from the crawl space below. The space had exposed earth and elevated humidity levels, which contributed to both structural instability and a damp environment beneath the home. During the inspection, our team found that the existing support system was insufficient to properly support the structure's load. Floor joists were not adequately supported, leading to noticeable sagging. Additionally, the crawl space lacked any form of moisture control, allowing ground moisture to rise into the space and create consistently damp conditions.
Solution
To correct both the structural and environmental concerns, we implemented a combined repair and encapsulation system:
- SmartJack® Support System installed to stabilize and support the floor system above
- CleanSpace® Encapsulation System installed to cover the ground and isolate the crawl space from moisture
This approach ensures the structure is properly supported while also creating a controlled environment beneath the home. Following installation, the crawl space was transformed into a dry, stable, and controlled area. The floors above were properly supported, reducing sagging and restoring confidence in the structure. Moisture levels within the crawl space were significantly improved, helping protect the home from future issues. This project in Washington, New Hampshire, demonstrates the importance of addressing both structural and moisture-related issues in a crawl space. By combining SmartJack® structural support with a full CleanSpace® encapsulation system, the homeowner now has a long-term solution that improves both the performance and condition of their home.
