Challenge
The crawl space beneath this Mount Washington, New Hampshire property was exposed to moisture originating from the ground below. An untreated crawl space can allow ground moisture to continually evaporate into the space, contributing to damp conditions beneath the structure. The property needed a durable solution designed specifically for the below-grade environment. Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems evaluated the crawl space and determined that complete encapsulation would provide an effective way to isolate the structure from the ground below. The goal was to create a continuous moisture barrier across the crawl space floor and foundation walls rather than relying on a thin, loosely installed ground covering.
Solution
Our crew installed the CleanSpace® Crawl Space Encapsulation System throughout the affected area. CleanSpace was installed across the crawl space floor and extended up the foundation walls to create a continuous barrier between the crawl space environment and the surrounding earth. The durable liner helps reduce the amount of ground moisture entering the crawl space while creating a dramatically cleaner and brighter environment beneath the property.
Product Installed
• CleanSpace® Crawl Space Encapsulation System — A heavy-duty 20-mil crawl space liner constructed from multiple layers of polyethylene with reinforcing material for added durability. CleanSpace is installed across crawl space floors and walls to create a continuous barrier against ground moisture while providing a clean, bright, and easier-to-maintain space.
The previously exposed crawl space is now separated from the ground by a durable CleanSpace encapsulation system. Instead of allowing ground moisture to continually enter the crawl space environment, the CleanSpace liner provides a continuous protective barrier across the floor and walls. The finished installation also makes the area significantly cleaner and easier to access and inspect.
Installing CleanSpace provided this Mount Washington property with a long-term crawl space moisture-control solution designed for the demanding conditions of northern New Hampshire. The completed encapsulation system creates a cleaner, drier, and better-protected crawl space while helping separate the structure above from the damp ground below.
